Dear Affiliated Society Representative,

After the great success of ESCMID Global 2025 in Vienna, we will hold next ESCMID Global in 2026 on site in Munich (Germany) and virtually as well.

As usual, the ESCMID Affiliated Societies (AS) will be granted with the following benefits:

  1. Grantee: For one member of your society who also is an ESCMID Young Scientist Member, ESCMID will cover registration and provide up to 500 € travel/accommodation allowance. This person shall be selected by the AS themselves. They must have a submitted abstract at ESCMID Global 2026 and must be a Young Scientist Member of ESCMID.
  2. Representative: For one AS representative, ESCMID will cover full registration for ESCMID Global 2026 (but no travel or accommodation). This person must participate at the ESCMID Council meeting (on site or virtually).

Both application forms are found on the ESCMID website: https://www.escmid.org/about-us/affiliates-partners/affiliate-societies/. Forms must be completed by 05 February 2026.

The nominated persons will receive, after the deadline, a communication with instructions on how to claim their free congress registration (and allowance for the young scientist member) and Council Meeting details.

Dear Member Society, IUMS is seeking nominees for the two awards. In the last conferences these awards were not honoured but we are planning the awards for the 2026 Lisbon meetingThe Arima award is given to an individual deemed to have made outstanding contributions to applied microbiology. Only nominations submitted by IUMS associated Societies (one per Society) will be considered. The Award consists of a certificate and US$ 1000,– as well as support for the awardee to attend the IUMS International Congresses. The awardee is invited to deliver a Plenary Lecture at the IUMS International Congresses.The Stuart Mudd Award was organized and endowed permanently by the World Academy of Art and Science, through the generous endowment provided by Dr. Emily Hartshorne Mudd. The Award was created in memory of Stuart Mudd, a distinguished microbiologist, first American President of the International Association of Microbiological Societies (IAMS, the precedent of IUMS) and past President of the World Academy of Art and Science. The Award is given in recognition of outstanding, selfless endeavours and contributions in Microbiology for the good of society. Only nominations submitted by IUMS Societies (one per Society) will be considered. The Award consists of a certificate and US$ 1000,–as well as support for the awardee to attend the IUMS International Congresses. The Awardee becomes a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science.
