The ESCIMID (European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) Guidelines Director invites all physicians and scientists, including, but not limited to infectious diseases and microbiology experts, and public health professional, health care workers, for the one-on-one visiting traineeship in the area of epidemiology and Biostatistics (6-12 weeks). The fellow will be presented with a long list of training modules and topics, among which s/he will set his/her educational priorities.:
- Definition of research questions
- Literature search in the main database (PubMed, EMBASE, Cinhal, Cochrane, etc.)
- Study design: observational and experimental (randomized clinical trials)
- eCRF design (via the REDCap platform)
- Main reporting guidelines
- Principles of statistical analyses (including sample size calculations)
- Principles of scientific writing
- Submission to the ethical committee and other regulatory requirements
- Basic and advanced biostatistics/ meta-Analysis
- Project writing and grant application
